THE Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria continues to provide grassroots equestrian competitors with a happy place, with members riding serenely on, untouched by the turmoil making headlines at the elite level of the sport.
The success of its Show Horse Top Teams event, run by Amaroo Equestrian Yarra Valley at the Shirley Heights Equestrian Centre, Gladysdale, demonstrates just how much riders enjoy riding as a group representing their clubs.
To “top” it off, organising committee member Maddison Clark said the weather was picture perfect and the venue was in immaculate condition.
The Top Team Trophy (TTT) events were introduced to increase opportunities for fair and equal inter-club competition.
Teams of three or four riders, compete at their own level with points earned for placings added to their team score.
TTT events are held for each of the disciplines and are hugely popular, with up to 800 riders known to attend.
The winning club has the option to host the following TTT, ensuring that the events are spread around Victoria and southern NSW, where HRCAV is active.
Most importantly, winning isn’t everything – the TTT events are always a social occasion, which typifies the spirit of the HRCAV.

At Shirley Heights, the Top Team Show trophy for 2025 went to the Echuca Elegance team of Michaela Brown and Tuscon Red, Tagen Tankard and Dreamtime Antares, Shaleah Bray and Fuerst Fantasia and Marissa Humbert riding Coldstream Upon A Star.
They finished five points ahead of the Cobram/Peninsula composite team that comprised Rhiannon Williams on Virgo and Danielle Viney with V.E. Extreme from the Peninsula Club and Cobram Barooga’s Juliette Steel and Nilton Spielberg and Charlotte Ware-Dickins riding Manus Macalla.
Third place went to the home team of Amaroo Allstars – Leesa Clausing and Willtony Garnett, Emma Parlevliet and Fairways Danciniro, Joanne Mistriotis and Heza Hollywood Tomcat and Carol Viero and Rudolpho Valentino.
Emma Parlevliet and Fairways Danciniro won the level one championship on a countback after finishing on equal points with Rich River’s Elise Binks’ EK Bellissima.
The level two champion was Lauren DaFonte and LC Divinity from Maroondah.
Shaleah Bray and Fuerst Fantasia riding for Echuca and District finished at the top of a huge list of level three riders and Nicole Burgermeister and Felkenstein had a consistently successful day to take out level four award for the Shadmoor Equestrian Group.
The level five riders are always the happiest, with lots of laughter and encouragement shared.
Here Juliet Steele, who has taken over the ride on Nilton Spielberg from her sister Charlotte, gained the championship points for her team Cobram Barooga.
