ANTHONY Thomas is the 2023 South Australian state champion showjumper after a solid performance over three classes on SL Donato at the Equestrian SA Showjumping Championships at Mount Pleasant.

He took the trophy even though Kristy Bruhn and James’ Bentley nudged him out of first place in the senior championship event, with Thomas and SL Donato placing second.

Ashleigh Westcott took third and fourth places with Fieldbrook Vienna and Tulara Colette.

Zara Young on Avenden Indigo was judged as the junior state champion.

It concluded an excellent event where, although the numbers were down a little, they did have some interstate and international riders in the mix.

Malaysian rider Grace Soetedja, who is staying with Tim and Michelle Clark, had a number of rides in both rings and picked up some minor placings.

Full results are yet to be published.
